Isaac trudged his way down the stairs, his slippers trudged his way through the hallway and to the kitchen table, where he fell upin the chair, with a muffled crinkle.
"Good morning Isaac!" Came the sing-spng call of his mother, "porridge is coming, how'd you sleep precious?"
It was obvious that Isaac had not infact slept well, the bags under his eyes were more numerous than a family of fours food shop, and they sagged more than the diaper around his waist, which had swelled so much it bulged through his checkered PJ bottoms.
"Not great," he croaked, "could't get my algorithm to satisfy parameters, ended up getting back up and working on it until...3AM?" he questioned his own final time, unsure, rubbing his bleary eyes.
"Poor sweetums, do you need a strong tea to wake you up?"
"What he needs is a diaper change," chimed in a voice next to him.
"Ugh, sh-shut up" Isaac stuttered back. The jibe had come from Mel, his twin who Isaac had only just noticed was also seated at the table, eating her own breakfast topped with blueberries and honey. Unlike Isaac, she was very much feeling alive this morning, with her long raven hair brushed and plaited, sat alert in a satin chemise, her favoured loungewear.
"What? Don't get crabby with me just because your robot couldn't do its navigations, your diaper is bulging even more than mine" at this, Mel leant back in her chair and hiked up her nightie, revealing her own yellow tinged diaper. She put her hand over the smooth plastic exterior, as if to emphasize the point, but there was a tell-tale bite of her lip as she applied just a mite of pressure to the sodden bulk, which Isaac failed to notice.
"Shut up Mel! ....and it's not a robot..." Isaac blushed and aveeted his gaze.
"Whats the matter Izzy, dont want me bringing up that you wet the bed?"
"Yes!" Isaac retorted, still not meeting her gaze as Mel had returned to a normal eating position to resume eating.
"Does that mean you also need a change, Mel?" Mother interjected, sensing a change of topic was in order as she presented Isaac's own bowl of steaming porridge infront of him.
"No thanks," Mel beamed back, "I don't think this one will leak soon."
"What she means is that she's planning to mess soon, but doesn't want anyone to rush into changing that, isn't that right?" came a third voice from the doorway, "not that answer will embarass her in the slightest."
"Guilty as charged" Mel smirked, and is if dropping pretense, letting her hand rub her diaper one more time.
"Honestly Mel, you're shameless," Lucy continued as she sat down. Lucy, being the third sibling by all but birth, was more tan than the pale skinned twins, not that there was much evidence between the form-fitting skinny jeans or cardigan she had dressed in before coming down for breakfast.
"Now really Isaac, if you wanted a reasonable come back all you had to say was that at least you don't make Mom change you at an age where you absolutely could do it yourself." Despite adressing this comment to Isaac, Lucy held eye contact with Mel while saying it with the exasperated tone normally reserved for cheeky children. The exasperated indulgence of once beyond hee years.
"I only dont need changing because I only need them at night, i just get a shower after breakfast. Mel wears them all the time." Isaac droned with his mouth full of breakfast, entirely missing the point.
"At least I'm not embarassed about wearing diapers like you two," Mel teased with an air of triumphance, tossing her spoon in to her finished bowl. Lucy suspected Mel tried to eat extra for bigger messes in her diaper.
"What do you mean you two?I don't wear diapers at all!" Lucy said, a little too defensively. Mel beamed, delighted in a mark for her antics even more responsive than the still groggy Isaac.
"My apologies, pull ups, princess" she said theatrically, standing up from her seat.
"I'm not wearing those either!"
"Yes you do."
"I'm not! See! Lucy unbuttoned her jeans to show the lacy band of her panties, then remembered herself and quickly pulled them back up. Which the far more open Mel found hilarious.
"Not now, but we all know any time you'll be away from a toilet for more than an hour... car rides, shoping trips, school tests."
"Ugh," groaned Lucy, defeated, "why do I even bother arguing with you?"
"Hey, it's nothing to be embarassed about. We all wear diapers," Mel consoled, placing her hands on the back of the chair she had just stood up from and letting her rear end raise slightly in the air."
"It should be, we are far too old to wear diapers, you only aren't embarasses because you DON'T need them and asked Mom to be back in them."
"True," Mel concedes, "but I figure that needing them is way less embarassing that asking your Mom if you can wear them for fun at age...gosh, what was it now?"
"Eight" Isaac added, not looking up from the phone he was scrolling at the side of his bowl. "6 months before Lucy moved in, a year before you figured out I still wet the bed. You were Eleven before Mom let you wear to school though... I don't actually know when Mom started changing you to be fair."
"That was sixteen," Mom called from the kitchen, "I figured at that point if anyone questioned why she wore diapers, no one would look to me anymore, and it was the quickest way to get her out of messy ones!"
"See!" said Mel, "way less embarassing, speaking of..." Mel closed her eyes and let out a grunt. After which she stood back up from her leaning position, "I'm off to play video games. Thanks for the breakfast Mom!" As Mel turned to leave, Isaac and Lucy noticed that back of her diaper sagged below the hem of her satin chemise.
"That girl is unbeleivable," Lucy shook her head and kept eating.
"Try being her twin," said Isaac, about to finish his own morning meal, "mind if I go monopoloze the bathroom, I DO need that shower..."
"Go ahead, I'll be fine until after" Lucy smiled back at Isaac as he shuffled off.
As he did so Mom finally took her own seat at the table with her own bowl.
"Honestly, I don't know how you put up with them," Lucy said as she sat, in that same indulgent tone.
"They both have their quirks," Mom smiled back, in her own indulgent way, "besides, despite being very grown now, especially with Mel, its like having my babies back."
"She's a bit old to be a baby, don't you think?"
"Like I said, all got our quirks. You'd hardly want her any different, would you?"
"I suppose so... speaking of..."
"More Pull Ups? Hows that going?"
"Ok, just running a little low."
"Not a problem darling, I'll nip out later."
"Thanks Mom!" Lucy said, standing up from her seat, kissing her on the cheek and leaving them room herself and leaving Mom to smile fondly at the thoughts of the morning.
